Herts Bird Club: Chris Williams reported a BARN OWL on a fencepost along Nettleden Road, Water End at 10.30pm last night - I was only recently thinking that the fields S of the horse paddock at the W end of this stretch look ideal at the moment for Barn Owl.

  1. There have been barn owls there for many years. A few years back I nearly ran one over that was feeding in the lane by the footpath to the woods. At this time of year you can often see them by Highpark Wood usuall heading to the buildings in the horse paddock.

  2. Hi Anonymous, thanks for your comment. That's great! I had my suspicions as I have seen reports here & there of Barn Owls at or not far from that area in the past, & some of the rough fields dotted between the crop fields look ideal hunting grounds. I have just not been able to connect with one so far there, only much further along the Leighton Buzzard Road. Thanks for the info, I really appreciate that. Kind Regards, Dan.
